🛏️ Do I Have to Stay Both Nights?

Not at all!

You’re welcome to join us for the entire weekend, but you’re absolutely not required to stay both nights.

If you’re only planning to join us for one night, we kindly ask that you book accommodations nearby so we can

🏨 At The Markland (Dingwall)

The Markland is our wedding venue, and many of our guests will be staying right on-site!

Guests staying at The Markland can enjoy the convenience of being steps away from all of the weekend celebrations, along with a complimentary continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning.

The Markland also has an on-site restaurant for anyone looking for additional food or drinks throughout the weekend.

🚌 Getting Around

If you’re staying off-site, don’t worry—we’re working with The Markland to help make transportation easy.

We’re currently arranging a driver to offer rides between nearby accommodations and the venue on Saturday evening, so you can relax, enjoy the celebration, and take in the evening without having to worry about driving.

We’ll share the full details, including pickup times and locations, as soon as everything is finalized!

🍽️ What Food Is Provided?

We’ve got you covered for the weekend!

If you’re staying in a cottage at The Markland, there’s no need to worry about packing a lot of extra food. We’ll be providing meals, snacks, and breakfast throughout the weekend so you can relax and enjoy your time with us.

Join us for a welcome dinner and buffet as we kick off the weekend together.

Breakfast will be provided for guests staying at The Markland.

Appetizers will be available during cocktail hour.

Enjoy a full wedding dinner during the reception featuring beef, chicken, and vegetarian options.

Later in the evening, our poutine bar will open to keep the party going!

Breakfast will be provided before everyone heads home.

🎒 What Should I Pack?

Cape Breton weather can be beautiful, but coastal evenings can also bring a cool breeze, so we recommend packing a few extras to make the most of your weekend.

Here are a few things you may want to bring:

🌊 A light jacket, sweater, or layers

Even summer evenings by the ocean can get chilly after sunset.

👟 Comfortable shoes

The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors, so shoes that work well on grass and uneven ground are a great idea.

🩴 Casual weekend clothes

Bring something comfortable for relaxing, exploring, and enjoying the property between events.

🩱 Swimsuit

If you’re staying at The Markland or want to enjoy the coastal surroundings, you may want to take advantage of the water or nearby beaches.

There are beautiful trails, beaches, and scenery nearby if you’d like to explore.

👗 What Should I Wear?

Our dress code is summer cocktail / coastal semi-formal.

Think elevated summer style—flowy dresses, linen shirts, jumpsuits, dress pants, skirts, and comfortable shoes that you can enjoy the evening in.

The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors, with beautiful ocean views and lawn spaces to explore, so we recommend choosing footwear that’s comfortable for grass and uneven ground.

A light layer is also a good idea for the evening—Cape Breton’s coastal breeze can be cool after sunset!

👶 Are Kids Invited?

We adore little ones, but this celebration is best suited for guests aged 13 and up.

We hope you can treat yourself to a grown-up night out—you’ve earned it!
